Wellbeing

At Emmaville Central School, we aspire to create a safe and engaging learning environment for all members of the school community (students, staff, parents and community members). We believe in inclusiveness and flexibility. Student wellbeing will be addressed consistently and fairly by all staff in a timely way to ensure that ECS is a positive place for academic and social learning. A systemic approach, led by school executive, will ensure consistency across the school. In implementing these procedures, the school is to ensure that no student is discriminated against on any of the following grounds: age, gender, sexuality, disability, or ethnicity. Individual needs, disability and developmental level of the student is taken into account.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

Both positive and negative behaviours are addressed by the following system at Emmaville Central School

Positive Behaviour

The positive behaviour system at Emmaville Central School aims to increase student engagement and learning by means of a student-centred approach. The care continuum includes a whole-school approach that is proactive, and prevention based. At the start of each school year students are taught about the school expectations of respect, diligence and resilience.

Points system

Students commence each term with 50 points. The points that a student has at the end of the term will determine the reward level they reach. Students can earn points (outlined below) but may lose points for behaviour that is not respectful, diligent or resilient. Points will reset at the start of every school term.

(Primary award 10 per day, secondary can award up to 5 per day. This is to be accompanied by a chronicle entry- GEM Point.)
