NSW public school information
This page includes updates and messages from the NSW Department of Education. It brings together content that applies to families of all NSW public schools.
Mobile phones are not permitted for use in NSW government schools. At Emmaville Central School, students who wish to bring their phone to school are asked to sign a Mobile Phone Pouch Agreement, after which they are issued with a school phone pouch (the first issue of a pouch is free).
Students:
- Are not to use their mobile phone at school during any part of the school day including breaks, or on organised school events- excursions, sports carnivals
- Will be required to turn off their phone and place it into the phone pouch as they enter the grounds
- Will be required to lock their pouch and ensure it is locked for the whole day
- Can then keep their phone, in their locked phone pouch, with them for the rest of the day
- At the end of the day, students can unlock their phone pouch as they leave the school grounds. After leaving the grounds students will be able to use their phones and connected devices
- If students require their phone because they have an exemption, which has been negotiated with the principal, restrictions will be imposed on when and where they can use their phone, depending on the situation
- If a student loses or damages their phone pouch, they will not be allowed to bring their phone to school until another phone pouch has been purchased from the office
- Refusal to comply with the procedures will result in the student being processed according to the ECS Behaviour Support and Management Plan.
